We as the Münster police ensure the safety of all people regardless of their religion, nationality and sexual orientation. After the violent attack on the fringes of CSD in Münster in August 2022, Police Commissioner Alexandra Dorndorf invited the queer associations to Münster Police Headquarters. Since then, this exchange has continued, contacts have grown, opportunities to get to know each other have been created and are now being made permanent. "A joint network is beginning to grow," said the police commissioner.

This has shown that queer people often experience discrimination and insecurity from an early age. Criminal charges are not always filed. An ongoing exchange, mutual trust and treating each other with respect and as equals are particularly important when working with LGBTQIA+ associations. "That's why we have appointed a contact person at Münster Police. He has the task of explaining police work, breaking down barriers and, above all, building trust. Success in the fight against discrimination and hostility can only be achieved through mutual cooperation. To achieve this, we need to listen to people and understand their experiences," said the police commissioner.
Since the end of 2022, Münster police have therefore had a contact person for queer people in place who is intended to overcome the hurdle of reporting queer-hostile crimes to the police and having them prosecuted. You can contact them at any time if you have experienced a queer-hostile act yourself or know someone who has been affected by queer-hostile violence. This is also the right point of contact for questions relating to discrimination against LGBTQIA+ people.
